Weekend Recap By: Kevin Devitt Riverside Brookfield Recap Jamal Daniels of Bloom Township is one of the top JUCO prospects in the class of 2008. Daniels can fly to the hoop and is flat out fast. Chris Parrish of Riverside Brookfield is re establishing himself as one Illinois top players after a few great performances on his home floor this weekend. Diamond Taylor of St. Joes can flat out play. Don't be surprised if a high major school offers the junior to be in the next coming month. St. Joes freshman point guard DeAndre McCamey has shown tremendous maturity and court savvy for such a young kid, look for McCamey to pick up more interest as the year goes along. Jawan Nelson of Bloom Township could be on the most dominating centers in this years senior class. Nelson who is 6-8 can muscle anyone in the paint and the Bloom Trojans look be a solid ball club as a whole. The Morton Mustangs could be a dangerous team this year while Wheaton North and John Bagge are quickly finding out there going to be a force to be recon with. Evanston Township has quickly picked up from where it left off from last year, winning the Riverside Brookfield Tournament and knocking off Wheaton North by 10 points in Saturdays pool play action - the same North squad who St. Joes dropped a 1 point contest too. Although Mt. Carmel didn't finish as high as they would have liked, look for the Caravan to do some damage in the Catholic League. Carmel looked better then conference foe St. Ignacious who reached Sundays Championship round. Keep an eye out for Kaleb Wright of Eisenhower, this kid is good. Old Gold Recap Matt Salter of Oak Park River Forest and AAU team Showtime has continued to play well throughout the spring season on the offensive end. Class of 09 point guard Sedric Ferguson of the Chicago Rebels and Lindblom Math and Science Academy could be a household name in 2 years. Darius Smith and the Illinois Hawks continue to play well capturing the U16 team title at the Old Gold Classic. Meanstreets U15 team features some nice players, such as Rishaad Alexander, Martell Moore, and Patrick Woofalk. Joy of the Game Recap Whitney Young incoming freshman Sam Thompson is the real deal. Chance Carter, Alex Rossi, and Ben Brust are 3 of the top 10 freshman in the state of Illinois. Marcus Jordan played with Ferrari or "Whitney Young" this weekend along side Anthony Johnson, Ahmad Starks, Bryan Hall, and A. J. Rompza while Chris Colvin watched in street clothes - so... who starts in the back court next year?
