The Windy City HS Hoops Guide to becoming a "Super Fan"

We here at Windy City HS Hoops were once high school basketball fans back in the day... we know what it takes for a grade A student section. So when we come visit your respective high school on a Friday night you better bring the pain!

  • Below you will find a list of 18 suggestions that must be fulfilled in order for your student section create the ultimate home court advantage!
  1. Attend EVERY game - You can't be a super fan if your not at the game!
  2. Sit in the FRONT ROW - This means getting their ON TIME... or getting their early to cheer on the sophomores!
  3. Bring a crew of RABID supporters - What's good about a general without an army to fight for him?
  4. Stand at all times - Don't sit down or your vocal cords will collapse. Don't show your weakness!
  5. Create a student section T-Shirt - You all must look somewhat similar to demonstrate your school spirit.
  6. Be creative with chants - Enough of..."that was stupid."
  7. Know every member of your team - If you don't know who #33 is when he knocks down the game winning 3 point shot....how can you chant his name?
  8. The coaching staff and parents know who you are - You've gotta be at least obnoxious enough for them to recognize you each game.
  9. Know your enemies - Did you kick that kids butt on the gridiron or take him to school on the tennis court? Let him know about it.
  10. Start a RITUAL - Come on guys, rituals bring unity and good luck.
  11. No voice after games - If you still have a voice at the end of games, shame on you!
  12. Even when your down your not out - If your losing, who cares, that doesn't mean you can't stop annoying the other team!
  13. Never be quiet during a free throw - Yell at the dude for heavens sake.
  14. Get the whole stadium to feel your presence - The students are loud but imagine if you got the parents involved! WOW!
  15. Mascot's are a MUST - If you don't have one... make one. If no one is in the suit, you get in the suit!
  16. Novelty Items - Drums, megaphones, air horns, thunder sticks, pon poms, rally rags, flags, signs, anything!
  17. Storm the court - If your team pulls the upset, storm that court!
  18. Band Involvement - We will rock you!!!! Get together, talk to the band director and work out a plan so everyone will be in sink.
